What people are saying about our programme

We recently conducted a review of our programme at Svenmill and the feedback we received shows the positive and far reaching effects of our unique programme

What’s been the biggest driver of behavioural change on the factory floor?

"The biggest driver in my opinion is the real life experience that the people down in the factory get from when we do stuff like the measurements. When we put that metre on the machine, they could see in real life what it costs, how much it uses, when it does and doesn’t cost, and they then take the initiative to look at changes they can make to save money by putting machines off; isolating lights; putting light switches on every machine... Basically it’s the experience of the people downstairs when they see that there’s really something that can be done and changed. It doesn’t matter how much we talk, how much we ask them to do it, when it comes down to where it’s practical, they can see the difference, they can see the impact. It works."

In terms of the foundation LW has provided, how has this positioned the company in context of what you see in the market/industry today?

"It’s put us way ahead of anything else."

What does the Eco-Active label mean to you compared to other claims or labels in the market?

"For me personally, seeing how Svenmill has grown to actually being awarded an eco-active label is amazing and shows to me we’re actually putting effort into our products and production, and it’s being recorded. Sometimes with other labels I don’t know how true it is but I can fully stand behind this and be proud of it. And what’s nice about this label is that it’s going on an initiative that one of the eco members thought of."

How has LW’s involvement with Svenmill affected the Design department’s way of thinking?

"There’s a huge awareness now that we should change our handwriting a bit by introducing new yarns so for us it could be exploring recycled yarns. We are keen to change but it’s an ongoing process."

Financial Director
Svenmill

How have Eco-KPIs benefited you as the FD in terms of awareness?

"While we’re still new to the system it’s going to realise problems in the business that will become easily identifiable. Once you can create consistency going forward I think that’s the key and I think it will also identify opportunities where we can look at areas that might not be looked at currently and see the effect thereof."
